Monthly Behavior Log

Sigh....One more precious week till I HAVE to be back in the little red school house.  Of course I will be spending some time there during this week but somehow it is different when I go on my own accord then when I am required to be there.  I hope to have everything set up by the end of the week and I will take some pics to share when I am all done.
In these last few weeks of freedom I have been thinking about changing my monthly behavior calendar.  I wanted to share my rough draft and take any suggestions so that it will be as useful for me and you before I make the rest of them!

My intention is to write the weeks in that first column before making copies for the kids.  Then each day mark the color they ended and any behavior codes if needed.

What do we think?  How could I make it better??

  1. I really like your idea because you could even write on important dates for a month. You may also consider having the students color their behavior, if it is done by the student and goes with your behavior chart. The kids always get so excited when they need to rip paper off the green because they have earned it so much! It all depends on your style. I had never thought of using numbers before. You have me thinking! Thanks for sharing and good luck!!

  2. I would love a copy. Could you do a monthly one or is that too long? Do a monthly one and send home weekly and return it on Monday? Just a thought

    2. Maybe you could put a comment that says, "had a great day"?

  3. Love! I have been using something similar, but its just been a reg. montly calendar and we put our behavior codes on the bottom. I like yours better with the I statemnts! If you make them available, I would love a copy!

  4. I really like it as well but, where is the positive? I think #1 should be, I worked hard today. But maybe you only use it for students who struggle? Also, I was just wondering about the behavior my the whole month... is this effective? I do it it daily, and it really is a handful but then the parents know what is going on. But I know mine needs to be adjusted and maybe this is the solution? Can you tell me more about this works?

On another note... good luck next week.

    1. The parents see this every night. It is kept in their DOT Book that goes home every day. The codes are only for when they slide down on the clip chart - so parents know exactly what went on and it makes it quick at the end of the day to log their behavior. I send home positive notes during the year. :) Thanks for all the great feedback ladies!! :)

  5. I really like how this looks.

I'm not sure why you have "the week of" on the left. I usually just have the dates in the calendar like a regular one. You could still keep it blank, so it could be used year to year, then write in the numbers before making your class copies.

I agree, perhaps have #1 be "I worked really hard and followed directions today." then keep all that you have listed. I like the idea of using the behavior codes.

I do a monthly calendar too and have them stapled in their takehome folders, so the parents see it daily...maybe that would be the solution for some of the people who are asking about that.

Anyway, I think I would still have my kids color in which color they ended their day on our clip chart then I would write in the behavior code.

    I like it! :o)

  7. Would you be able to make it editable? I teach 1/2day Pre-K and our class rules are a little different. Right now I have to handwrite the behaviours in the squares and this would make it much easier for us at the end of the day! Thanks :-)

    1. No, unfortunately I would not be able to make it editable due to the copyrights of the alphabet that I used and any other clip art I may use. I'm sorry.

  8. Love it! Is there anyway you can post a half page version when you post them for the year? I cut my composition notebooks in half to save money and would love a small version to fit them :) Thanks so much for always sharing with us!

  13. Hi,

I would rephrase the behavioral statements below the calendar by beginning each sentence with "I need" (for example, I need to use self-control.). Otherwise, I like this very much.

  18. I love this idea. I agree with some of the other comments...maybe a regular calendar with dates (to help learn this skill) and positive codes added would give everyone in the class a way to record their day. Would love a copy of your finished product!

  21. Your site is awesome! I admire your work and thank you so much for sharing! You asked for suggestions, right?; or normally, I wouldn't say a thing! :) When it comes to reporting behavior, if at all possible, I prefer including something positive about the child first off...then state the negatives. Thanks and have a wonderful school year! Any Kindergartner will surely be fortunate to have you for their teacher!
