Grab and Count

I was in need of another small group activity to help review teen numbers for this week so I reworked this neat activity and made it valentine themed.  The original idea came from Green Gable Kindergarten but I made it work for our needs!!  I hope you will be able to use it too!!

Heart Word Boxes & Cards...Oh and Ground Hog Puppet :)

I have had some questions about my heart word boxes and the flash cards that I use in my classroom.  This year I purchased a class set of plastic 4x6 photo boxes so each child could have their own set of Heart Words to keep in their Book Boxes.

They have worked really well this year and I have been very pleased with how well they have held up so far.

You can see the cards in action here!  This student is using her Heart Word Box and cards while completing her Word Work Daily 5 choice.

If you are interested in these cards, you can find the complete Kindergarten set HERE in my TpT store.  Initially I used DJ clip art and font so I had to change the hearts - but they are still cute!! :)

The set contains all the words in the Kindergarten Scott Foresman Reading Street series including all the basic colors and number words to ten.  It has the student cards for the boxes as well as larger words for your word wall or to use as flash cards.

It is on sale right now for $6!!  I am working on the First Grade set too, so they will be available soon!  :)

If you already have these boxes and are interested in the labels I have on the boxes, I can help you with that too!! :)  Send me an email and I will send you more information.  :)

P.S - Here is the Ground Hog Puppet pattern I used for the ground hog fact.  :)  It is not the best scan - but it works.  :)

I'm so sorry this has taken so long, but today was the first day since I posted about my 100th day activities that I have been back in my classroom.  I took yesterday off to spend it with my daughter.  She was competing in a Speech Competition in our County.  I was a very proud mama and of course I have to share!! :)

Here is the 100 coloring page and I also scanned the glasses for you too!  :)  They are one of my favorite 100th day activity!!

You can find the glasses HERE.

Hip Hip Hooray It's the 100th Day....3 days ago. :)

O.k - so who's fantabulous idea was it to have the 100th and and Groundhogs day within days of each other??????  Oh yeah - that would be Mother Nature's idea - since we missed a whole week of school our 100th day got pushed back and it just so happened to land on the same week as groundhogs day.  Yikes!  SO needless to say it has been a busy week!!  Here is a picture tour through our 100th day of fun!!
Our kindergarten group always likes to share our 100th day excitement with the whole school, so we do a few things in the front lobby for all the children to enjoy!!
Each K student made a footprint.  :)
We also each made a person!!
We also made 100 100s!!
I saw this adorable activity on Mrs. Kimbrell's blog and I loved it!!  So I made one of my own!  Dots to 100
I found this in an OLD 100th day folder I found in the file cabinet.  Sometimes the oldies are the goodies!!  If you want a copy, email and I will scan and send.  :)
I called this Roll Count Roll.  They rolled the dice, counted and then rolled the number with these rolling stamp things I found in the Target $ section a few years ago.

They colored 100 glasses and to wear to lunch.  The lunch ladies always enjoy seeing the kids in their glasses!!  They also made 100 tally marks on their 100th day headband!!

Of course I had to join the fun!! :)
O.K - I couldn't resist this one - check out his glasses - not quite sure how he made them stay on his face!! Love it!! :)
100th Day Snack!!
Each kindergarten class contributed to our snack for the day!!  There were 10 different snacks around our hall and the kids went to each room and counted 10 of each type of snack!!

100 Fruit Loops Necklace!!

And last but not least...we made a pizza with 100 toppings!!!!!
Phew...I'm tired just reliving the day!  Needless to say...I came home and crashed!!!
Fun on Groundhogs day is next...thanks to Kim Adsit!! :)

Measuring with Snow Flakes

We did some fun measuring last week!!  A big thanks to Deanna Jump for this wonderful idea!  They had a great time seeing how many snowflakes tall they were!!  The best part was watching them complete the response sheet with their partner.  It was interesting to see who really worked together and helped each other, and who just pretty much worked on their own even though they were allowed to talk and work with a partner.  :)

How cute are they???
