4 days down...1 to go!!!

I think these have been the longest 4 days of my life!!  I love them dearly but the first few weeks of kindergarten are always sooo exhausting!!!!  I keep remembering that tomorrow is Friday....tomorrow is Friday....tomorrow is Friday!!!

I thought I would share a few pictures of my room...I have had them on my camera but just haven't had the energy to get them onto the computer until tonight.  I didn't take a ton, but enjoy the few I did manage to snap.  Bear in mind that some of the pictures are from when bulletin boards and room were not finished... :)
Finished Clip Chart! :)
Rules up and ready!
Cafe Board

Calendar - still a work in progress.  I have added weather cards (we don't have much of a variation in weather :) ) and will soon add specials and mountain math.

Library

The black squares are where our self-portraits will go... :)

Meeting area

That's about all I got... the kids are in the process of making it their home and I will post more pics when it is ready!! :)  Have a HAPPY FRIDAY!!! :)

  1. It is so very cute! I love the way you have your class rules posted. I am thinking of doing that with my standards/clear learning goals that we have to post. I hope you will join my cute classroom linky party, but your classroom is very cute!!!

  2. Hi Ashley,

Love your polka dot room. The ribbons are a nice touch! What font did you use on your Rules chart, the top of each and the header that says, "Our Classroom Rules". I love it!

    Thanks,

  3. Your room is super cute. I love the way you posted your rules. I have a Daily 5 question. When do you begin to introduce Read to Self? I don't want to rush Daily 5 but I HAVE to get into small groups just to get anything done. Do you do different type stations for the first week or 2 (like ABC puzzels or table work) while you work in smaller groups or do you wait to do small groups until you have them trained????? Thanks for any help!!!

  5. Donna - I start Daily 5 as soon as I can. I actually started yesterday and hope to start building stamina tomorrow! Just like you ... I HAVE TO BE IN SMALL GROUP to get anything done! I'm "hoping" I can start to at least assess some next week... I really try to wait on regular small groups until they are fully trained - otherwise I feel like I am swimming upstream all year and it is just not fun!! :)

  12. Miss J - I think hte font I used on the calendar is Bumble Bee - you should be able to find it if you google free bumble bee font. I found the polka dot fabric at Hobby Lobby AKA MY FAVORITE STORE!!! :) The pink rug I found at TJMAXX last summer, the curtains are a Wal Mart Special believe it or not and I made the sign on my door out of a black plate I found at Gardenridge!! :)

SunnyDays - I wish I could take credit for the cute ribbon idea, but Deanna Jump has her standards hung with ribbon! It was so cute I had to do it too!! :)

  16. Your room is seriously cute! But I am bias though I have an affinity for anything with a dot on it. My theme the last two years was polka dots. I went with a jungle theme this year
